A 100 Year LegacyHemingway formerly resided on Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 14, housed within a magnificent 100-year-old teak-framed structure from the 1920s. Originally built by a revered Thai general known as “The Duke,” this architectural gem was constructed for just a few hundred thousand baht at the time, yet was esteemed as a mansion despite its modest two or three bedrooms. The Duke, regent to King Rama 8, initially owned the residence before passing it to his son, who served as Ambassador to Laos and was married to the Princess of Laos. Subsequently, the house became an official Ambassador’s residence, notably hosting the French Ambassador during the 1940s. New BeginningsHemingway, now located in Sukhumvit Soi 11, has been meticulously crafted to embody the essence, beauty, and ambiance of the original old golden teak house. Carefully reclaimed from demolition and situated just a stone's throw away from its original location. Our venue has been purpose-built from the ground up, with a design that pays homage to the distinctive characteristics of the original house.
